Advanced Inquiry Officers Course

This course provides comprehensive training on conducting administrative inquiries under the inherent authority of commanders and in accordance with the Defence (Inquiry) Regulations. Participants will learn the essential skills required to investigate incidents or situations, gather and analyze facts, and make informed decisions to address the issue and prevent future occurrences.

Course Content

This course is designed for warrant officers, officers of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), and certain civilian staff within the Australian Defence Organisation who are tasked with conducting administrative inquiries.

Course Units

DEFLAW008 – Conduct a Defence administrative inquiry

Course Objectives:

  • Understand the legislative, regulatory, and policy framework governing administrative inquiries within the ADF.
  • Develop the skills needed to perform administrative inquiries efficiently and effectively.
  • Learn to adhere to organisational policies and procedures during the inquiry process.
  • Gain proficiency in conducting inquiries based on the level of authority, rank, or position.
  • Acquire the ability to work under indirect supervision while handling sophisticated tasks in diverse contexts.
